Thought Question: Week of February 1

As we close the first month of the new decade, I consider my own lack of resolutions this year.
Is it simply because I've given up on making them?
Is it because I've resigned myself to the fact that I forget them within a few months?
Or is it because I'm simply shorter on time this year?

Tell me, did you make any resolutions this year? How are you doing as far as keeping them? What efforts are you making to keep yourself going?

Thought Question January 16,2009

Is it possible for a novel to have more than one interpretation?
As we study The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing, consider the possible interpretations and whether or not a book may have more than one accepted interpretation.

Enjoying a break from work, but always thinking.

As I ran errands this morning, I reveled in the fact that this was not only my 19th week of from school for winter break, and the fact that it was a sunny, warm December morning.

As I stopped at a red light, I looked over and noticed several young men piled into one car and making loud, jeering comments at any passersby.

As I rolled my eyes, I noted that at least my students are more mature than to engage in such childish and juvenile behavior.

What behaviors do your peers engage in that bother you or make you feel uncomfortable?

Remember, do not attack one another and be respectful. Also, remember that it is alright to post anonymously so long as you email me your comment as well.

Some fun resources for your blogging adventure!

When we work on our blogs, it is always fun to have cool resources to use.

http://googlegooglegooglegoogle.com/   Four Square Google! :)
Works like regular google, but with 4 searches going at one time.

http://www.tuxpi.com/  Great photo and video effects (with clear and easy instructions) to enhance any blog or powerpoint.

http://www.xtranormal.com/ Website where you can set up conversations or monologues using one or two animated characters. You type in the dialogue, and the characters do the speaking. Easy to use, and easy to link or embed in your blogs, powerpoints and more!

This Week's Thought Question!

Post your reponse to this week's Thought Question.

"In 1984, Apple/Macintosh capitalized on the novel 1984 in their commerical for their computers. Is this an apporpiate use of literary allusion? Why or why not?"
